The Origin of Left of Lily
In early 2003 my daughter Lily was born. That January day was the best of my life. One year later we discovered that Lily had a degenerative condition suspected to be a mitochondrial disease. Mitochondria are tiny compartments that are present in almost every cell of the body. The mitochondria's main function is to produce energy. Lily has special needs and has been using a wheelchair most of her life. As Lily's wingman, I tend to reside on the left side of the chair, which is where Lily likes me. Left of Lily is our story — our life — for the past 19 years. Raising a kid with special needs is hard, but we've had more fun than anything! Let us know what you think... Cheers!
